My daughter and new son in law came over from New Zealand along with his family and their friends to have their wedding at No 10 on the 5th November and if i could find a better description than 1st class i would, the service was amazing, the food was fantastic, the Manager William and events coordinator Nicola couldnt have been more attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly and it did. All the staff were great. They choose the Hotel's DJ Chris and he was brilliant he got involved in the dancing and made the guests feel very welcome. The accommodation was ideal, the beds are extremely comfortable. Our fellow New Zealanders all praised the hotel and staff. I would recommend this Hotel not only for a wedding venue but for any other occasion or just simply a lunch, dinner or a few drinks.

This is gunna be a long story but the take home points are:
1. if you're vegan, be incredibly careful of the food they give you
2. We were dryer in our tent by the Loch than we were asleep in our hotel

We checked in early October after camping at Loch Lomond for 2 nights. Sleeping in a tent, we were excited to get to our hotel for a bit of luxury in this 4star hotel. Upon booking I informed them of my dietary requirements and in the month running up to our stay it was confirmed, several times, that the kitchen would be able to provide for me (gluten free and vegan).

We checked in and was invited to dinner in their restaurant where they gave me a separate vegan menu. I ordered two starters and a main- they had such amazing options I wanted to try them all.

This is where the disappointment begins.

When the food was brought out both were placed in front of me, with one bite I knew one of the dishes weren't vegan. I called a waiter over to double check and was assured it was vegan. I carried on eating and still not convinced I called the manager (William) over, he wasn't sure at this point and went to check with the kitchen. He came back, and without apologising told me 'there is just a wee bit of cream in the sauce, is that okay?'

There was little responsibility taken and I was told I should have been more specific when ordering... REALLY? I was probably the only vegan staying, they handed me a vegan menu, which I pointed to when ordering and I checked twice during my meal! How more specific should I have been. I have gone many years now without consuming dairy products and I find 'slip ups' like this both completely inexcusable and, certainly without an apology, insulting.

We abruptly ended our meal and took refuge in our hotel room. Later we spoke to Nicola, the receptionist, where she apologised and assured us our breakfast would be better...(spoiler: it wasn't)

In the night I was woken up by rain drops falling on my head as I discovered a leak in the ceiling! We spoke to Nicola in the morning and requested to be moved rooms, she apologised and moved us into a nicer room. Although resolved quickly, I didn't expect to be wetter in a 4star hotel than we were in our tent paying £14 a night.. even if we were in a budget room!

At breakfast I was offered full vegan & gluten free breakfast. With what had happened the night before I was concerned and asked to see the ingredients of each item for my self. Good job I did as both the sausages and toast contained egg! I understand, more than most, that being gluten free and vegan is a pain sometimes but there are plenty of brands I can eat. And you would have thought after the careless service the night before they would have thoroughly checked everything before offering it to me. They also had over a month to buy in whatever they needed to. I would have much rather they let us know they wouldn't be able to provide us with breakfast at point of booking as we paid extra.

At this point we requested our breakfast to be cancelled for the rest of our stay and they agreed to refund us for the amount.

The rest of our two night stay saw us constantly trying to avoid William in the reception area as he was desperate to get us to eat in the restaurant again. As much as this was an attempt to resolve a bad situation it was actually made worse with constant pestering and an overbearing manner. We politely declined each time but it would have been nice not to have this dread every time you leave and enter the hotel!

When we checked out Nicola wasn't there so we left a note with reception to ensure a refund was processed. I also followed this up with an email. A refund was processed of £30, just 1 breakfast allocation. After a lot of emails I was finally refunded the correct £60.

We booked this hotel purely on the vegan menu they advertised and its great review rating. Both of these reasons turned out to be rather sour for us and we certainly wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Mistake after mistake was made and I severely question the legitimacy of their vegan food.

The rooms are claustrofobic and with poor maintenance. There were moisture stains, paint smudges, faucets leaking. The bed was poorly prepared and the used soap from the previous visitor was still in the tub. The furniture was in poor taste for a hotel branded as "classy". The staff was somewhat uncommited to providing a good service. The bar was cool. Really don't understand the 4 star rating.

I cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at number 10. I must say a special thank you to Aimee on reception, she was very welcoming and so efficient, she really made our stay. Also to Jonathon in the bar, thank you for being so helpful. That's no detriment to the rest of the staff who were all obliging and friendly. Our rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the ambience was just lovely. Thank you very much for making our stay in Glasgow so enjoyable, we really appreciated your attention to detail.

Nice looking building in a location not too far from the centre' short walk too the shops. thin walls so slightly noisy but otherwise clean and pleasnt. free biscuits too.
