Hofbräuhaus München

I only had a few hours to explore Munich and knew I had to visit Hofbäuhaus for dinner. It’s easy to find in Old Town and the space is huge - be prepared to wait around a little to find a seat if it’s busy. The style of service is self seating with table service, so get settled and find a menu while waiting. I wanted to try traditional Bavarian fare so went with the pretzel and pork knuckle - both tasty and filling. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud that you couldn’t have a conversation.

This is a "must-go" beer palace if you are in Munich. The atmosphere is fantastic. Food is good. Be patient as the food takes some time to arrive due to the large number of clients - just have another beer. We all had a great time

we sat down and were told numerous times by the waiter that they were in the middle of 'something'. the waiter sat other patrons and took their orders AND delivered their beers before coming back again to tell us they would be back soon. we moved seats and were once again ignored. it made us feel invisible!! it seems they prefer groups of people rather then couples...there are much better beer halls close by! i recommend walking through for a look at most!

The place is huge, with an outdoor seating area if you walk further in. It's all about the atmosphere here though, and it does manage to reproduce some of the Oktoberfest magic. The live music plays regularly, and staff are rather friendly to tourists. You can even get the 1 litre beers here, and the food isn't too bad either. Service is pretty good considering the number of people here. But with that many people, it's easy to see how some people might not enjoy themselves here. Wasn't the case for us though!

This place has an amazing vibe and it is not a coincidence that it is always packed. You have to be prepared to sit with other people and share your table and if you want share your experience and make friends. During our visit to Munich we went there twice.

The food is amazing, the beers are gigantic and the atmosphere is so upbeat and entertaining. You can feel that everyone is having a good time and you cannot resist. We made some really nice friends there which led us to have an amazing time.

One thing I have to mention, is how rude our first waiter was. He wouldn't take our order, yelled at us and called us idiots to our faces because we wouldn't leave his section, where there was space to sit (very weird for such a busy place). We had to change sections and then everything was perfect and the service proved to be excellent.

Make time and space (in your stomach) for this experience!
