Cafeteria quality food at best. Mysterious pricing. Disinterested employees who show zero pride in their work. Get all this and more at the Aspen Leaf Cafe.

As an example, a simple order of a grilled cheese sandwich will more than likely provide you with two slices of bread that are lazily thrown together, with the top slice only covering half of the bottom slice. The cheese won't be melted; so don't come in with ridiculous expectations like that. Go ahead and order a side of fries, but be careful; if the lady at the checkout counter is in a mood, she'll not only charge you for the sandwich and fries, but for the side of ketchup you squirt on your plate. And speaking of the lady at the checkout counter, I think she has all authority to override published prices. I've paid anywhere from $1.25 to $3.00 for a grilled cheese. And the amount charged for a side of fries is always a surprise.

In short, I definitely recommend you visit the Aspen Leaf Cafe. It's truly an experience unlike any other.

First of all, $0.96 for a side of salsa! How about warning me BEFORE dumping the salsa on my cold breakfast sausage (not room temperature, like, cold out of the fridge), oily potatoes, and pre-made scrambled eggs (served with an ice-cream scoop)?

"It won't be that bad", I tell myself.
"Yes its over-priced, but the honor bar is out of jimmy-deans."
"You need something to hold you over until you can have a frozen burrito around 11:00."

Yes, it can be that bad. How many times must I learn this lesson? Will I force myself to pay for another $9 salad? Must I play another round of cash-register roulette (an exciting event, you never know how much or what you will be charged for)? Who is running this place, the softball commissioner?

Even the very edible pre-made scrambled eggs could not redeem the lack of value that this establishment has clearly identified as their core competency. Learn your lesson. It isn't worth it. Just save room for lunch, or dinner, whatever the case may be.

A fairly typical cafeteria which is convenient for folks in walking distance.
