Booked the night before and got a great rate online. Shame it closes early (4pm I think) but you can park overnight at the port car park for not too expensive and return car in the morning

We had an reservation for about a month, had our whole day planned around this car rental; excursions booked etc. We arrived at the hertz, the first thing the guy at the desk tells us is that they do not have a car for us. He proceeded by giving us a list of other car rental places and told us to call them, mind you the other places did not open for another hour (we chose hertz because of the 7am opening). It was our first time at Hertz and will most certainly be our last.

This weekend in Puerto Rico was almost perfect. But the Hertz employee (yellow hair) had to play the party pooper: we tried to rent a car early in the morning and he offered us a renting price 4 times higher than expected, and at the same time his attitude was negligent. He made us think that we couldn't rent with a debit card, so that he doesn't need to work. We were deeply shocked. Pathetic, shameful. I have never seen that in a lifetime of car rental. We went to Thrifty and it was a very professional, enthusiastic, incredible experience.

Not honoring reservations because of a reservation "backlog". I went 1 hour early to talk to the front desk rep to confirm the car would be ready and he told me there just weren't enough cars at Hertz in San Juan so it would be a 2-2.5 hour delay to get my car. Try Target rent a car if you are looking for a better experience! They will pick you up from the Sheraton / OSJ and drop you at the airport the next day as well.

We reserved a car a week before arriving on a cruise. When we got off the ship (at 7:00am - as early as possible), we quickly walked to the rental office in the hotel. There were three families in front of us and they were completely out of cars. All of us had reservations.

They said it would take an hour to get the cars (one at a time) from the airport because they only had one driver to transport them. There was nothing we could do - we had to leave.

What's the point of a reservation if they can't/won't have cars ready?
