Locauto Rent a Car

Dispite other comments on Locauto Brindisi, everything went fine. No problem to signal, we've been upgraded for free, employees spoke French. Few elements to note:
- Check that your credit card is not 'Debit only' (written on the card) for the deposit.
- At the checkout (at Bari), the office opens at 8, we didn't wanted to drop the key in mailbox (which is possible) without doing the checkout with Locauto employee
- Be careful (normal) with car and rental process and everything went fine for us.

Classic Car Rental...

Won't be renting again. Efficiency is really a big question mark!!!

This is by far the worst car renta experience we've ever had and we've been renting a lot of cars across all the world. When returning the car, we fueled 10 km before the airport at the last gas station on the way. We were told at the check-up that the car had been fueled at least 45 km before as it did not have full autonomy. We were coming from less than 40 km and plus the consumption is given by the driving style it's not a fixed measure. The employees of Locauto were rude and were obviously not listening to what we were telling them. They kept repeating we did not fuel in the last moment and that we need to pay extra. We had to go and fuel ourselves for 2 extra litres finally as the fee was huge.
I think this place should lose the National/Enterprise license as it's a shame for them.

The rent price was fair and the car brand new, everything seemed promising. However, upon returning the car we spotted a small scratch below the front bumper. We accepted responsibility and proceeded to ask for the price of reparations. They refused to give it to us before signing a document where the damage was bigger than 10 cm, which is over the maximum threshold for reparations of this kind and over the size of the damage we actually made to the car. Once the price was revealed as 200€, we refused to pay until a more acceptable and appropriate price could be agreed upon. They reassesed the damages and, agreeing to our point of view, told us that they would contact the main offices in Milan and come back to us with a negotiated fee. They even asked us not to sign the invoice, as this would be dealt with after they contact HQ.

Two days later, we got an automatic email informing us that they were going to charge 200€ anyways. I tried to contact the Brindisi Airport office, asking whether they had actually talked with their superiors, but no answer came. The day after, the charge of 200€ was made on my credit card, without me signing the invoice, invoking a clause in the rental contract.

I believe the way they do business is shady and dishonest. They failed to comply with their given word and dealt with the situation with lies, manipulation, and deceit. In no moment we tried to avoid our responsibility, reparations needed to be made and we would pay them, that's true. But an honest disposition seems to be no guarantee for them, as you are at their mercy. Even if they offer help you can't trust their word as it seems they value it very little.

I can't recommend doing business with them, and it's a shame because their rent prices are good and the condition of the car was too. But the way they deal with clients and the fact that you can be taken profit from so easily makes it in my book a very unreliable company. Shop somewhere else.

I tried to refuel the car on the 8th of May at 5 am, before deliver the car to Locauto, the problem was that at that time I had communication problems and was unable to pay with credit card. I tried to explain to Locauto, They did´t care and a refuel that would cost 30 euros costed me 95 euros.... This is amazing. Obviously I won´t rent a car again with this company
