Mani, an inspirational land never subjugated to any invader or conqueror, breathes the air of bare and beautiful freedom. Mani is home to 98 traditional settlements (out of the 118 that exist in the Peloponnese), the legendary “tower” homes, the “eagle” villages, magnificent Byzantine churches and significant archaeological sites such as the UNESCO-listed site of Mystras. The most beautiful cave-lake in the world, Diros Cave, is also located in this part of the Peloponnese, whereas the sunset at Cape Tainaro is absolutely breathtaking. Thanks to the many species of indigenous plants, Mani is a “botanical paradise”. Visitors will stand in awe of the stone bridges, drinking fountains, watermills and oil presses, built with extraordinary craftsmanship for millennia. Regional gourmet delicacies include “syglino” (local cured meat), “diples” (honey-dipped pastry), herbs and honey from Mount Taygetos, extra virgin olive oil, greens and fresh fish.
