The ultimate Olympic voyage unfolds before us as we explore the terrain of Peloponnese, highlighted by the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia (birthplace and source of the Olympic flame for all Olympic games), the Temple of Epicurean Apollo (monument of utmost importance) and Kalavryta, (a small town where the Greek War of Independence commenced in 1821). This itinerary is full of natural treasures as well, such as the unique Caves of the Lakes (formed by 13 successive lakes) and Foloi forest (an oak forest with an ecosystem of rare flora & fauna). The picturesque villages of Andritsaina (rich in folkloric tradition and Greek history) and Dimitsana (a traditional preserved settlement in Arcadia with the Water Power Museum), and Mycenae, the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, of the most important palatial centre of the Late Bronze Age in Greece, make Peloponnese a land whose history spans across millennia and its remnants provide the link to many expressions of Western civilization.
