Pindos is the biggest mountain in Greece and forms the south branch of the Illyrian and Dalmatian mountain ranges. the region of Epirus is of extraordinary natural beauty with a rich historical & cultural heritage. Countless rivers have sculpted the rocks into gorges and ravines. Dense forests with coniferous and deciduous trees growing in ideal climatic conditions have favoured the existence of a wide range of flora and fauna. Ioannina, the largest city of Epirus was founded by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in the 6th century AD. the city between the 16th to 19th centuries was a major center of the modern Greek Enlightenment.
